Zerodha CEO Nithin Kamath Falls Victim to Phishing Attack, Warns Users of Cyber Risks

Zerodha CEO and founder Nithin Kamath disclosed that his own account on one of the social media platforms, i.e., X, was hacked briefly after he accidentally opened a phishing mail link. The incident took place on Thursday, 16 October 2025, at around 3:39 pm, when Kamath revealed that he had one of his active accounts hacked and utilized in posting malicious links to cryptocurrency scams with the goal of scamming his followers.

Luckily, the harm was minimized since Kamath had 2FA enabled on his account. The security feature did not allow the hackers to obtain full access to the system and make any permanent changes. After being suspicious of something, he was able to get back into the account soon.

After this incident, Kamath went on social media platforms to discuss the breach and to inform even more people regarding the increasing sophistication of the phishing attacks. He emphasized the aspect that even technologically literate people and top bankers are not immune to such threats. Kamath urged users to be careful while handling emails and links, particularly those that ask for personal/login credentials.
