A California-based startup has unveiled Pickle 1, a new pair of AI-powered augmented reality (AR) glasses that claim to go beyond conventional smart wearables by acting as a “memory extension” for users. Pickle 1 is promoted as a soul computer: a device that is intended to record visual and contextual data concerning the daily life of a wearer and offer individual help in real time.
In contrast to other AI glasses, including the Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses, Pickle 1 will be powered by the Pickle OS, which is developed by the company and, according to it, will effortlessly collect context across various sources and place it in one searchable cluster. The company claims that the operating system has an unlimited memory, which enables the user to remember things they have seen or heard whenever they need to.
Pickle asserts that the glasses can tell the user what he or she requires without having to speak to them. Through user behavior analysis and environment, Pickle 1 is able to proactively indicate user behavior like booking rides, reading messages, restaurant reservations, and shopping for items. Conversation is managed by conversational AI characters that are shown in full color on the AR interface.
Hardware-wise, the Pickle 1 is only 68 grams and includes a Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset, which should provide highly fast performance with a low latency. The glasses have a 12-hour battery life and hence can be used throughout the day. To be on the safer side, Pickle has installed an inbuilt fingerprint scanner on the frame such that the device can only be unlocked by its owner.
In order to provide precise and individual recommendations, the company suggests that the glasses should be worn at least three hours a day and the user has to have more than 50 visual interactions per day. Privacy-wise, Pickle claims that all the data is encrypted by default and only decrypted in a hardware-isolated enclave. The company also states that any user information that is shared with third-party applications is not stored and utilized to train AI.
Currently, the Pickle 1 AR glasses are available for pre-order in the United States at a price of $799 (approximately ₹72,000), with deliveries expected to begin in the second quarter of 2026.
