NASA astronaut Sunita Williams has officially retired from the US space agency, and her 27-year career has been characterized by power, leadership, and record missions in space. NASA had her retirement date as December 27, 2025.

Williams is one of the most successful astronauts in NASA history, and she has had three long missions in the International Space Station (ISS). NASA failed to return in time due to the safety concerns that ensured that their stay was far longer than had been planned.

In spite of it, Williams continued to carry out scientific research, run the station, and conduct the leadership role in the ISS.
