A new Aadhaar app was recently introduced for the smartphone users, and this has provided a more convenient method of storing and displaying their Aadhaar ID to access it daily. But despite the resemblances in the purpose, the officials explain that this application is not introduced to substitute the current mAadhaar application. Rather, the two apps will continue to meet the various demands of Aadhaar holders.
The new Aadhaar application is aimed at convenience and privacy as a regular identification. It enables users to have a digital copy of their Aadhaar card on their phones and present it in case they are asked to verify their identity (at airports, offices, hotels, etc.). One of its standout characteristics is that it allows concealing some personal information, including the residential address of a user, when sharing the ID. This assists in providing greater protection to privacy in typical circumstances, whereby only basic identity authentication is required.
By comparison, the mAadhaar application is a more holistic service platform. It allows its users to get their digital Adhaar card, order a PVC Adhaar card, check their registered mobile number and email address, and create a Virtual ID (VID) that they can use to authenticate safely. These services play a critical role in Aadhaar-related updates or verification activity, and they will remain available only in the form of mAadhaar.
According to experts, the new Aadhaar app would help to decrease the number of people who have to carry physical copies of their ID, as well as make quick verification much safer and simpler. In the meantime, the mAadhaar app remains the main tool in official Aadhaar services.
By complementing one another, users now have greater latitude in how they store, share, and manage their Aadhaar data, providing the convenience and privacy they need in their daily lives.
